The central station

Naming the station matters. A monitoring plan is only as good as the facility answering the signal, and you are entitled to know which one that is.

Communication paths

Cutting a phone line no longer defeats an alarm system.

It used to. A single copper line to the street was the weak point in every system installed before roughly 2010, and it was widely known.

Dual-path by default

Every system we monitor reports over both cellular and IP. An intruder who disables one path does not disable the signal, and an internet outage does not leave the building unwatched.

Path failure is itself an alarm

If a communication path drops, the panel reports it as a trouble condition. Nobody has to notice the system has gone quiet — which, historically, is how systems went quiet for months.

Supervised, not assumed

The panel checks in with the central station on a schedule. A system that stops checking in generates an alert rather than simply falling silent.

False alarms

The honest section about false dispatches.

Every monitoring company would rather not discuss this. It is worth discussing, because it is the thing most likely to make you stop trusting your system.

  • Most false alarms are preventable and they trace back to sensor placement, entry delays, or training rather than to equipment failure.
  • Verification before dispatch operators confirm the event against your procedures rather than dispatching on every signal.

What happens when an alarm goes off?

The signal transmits to the central station over cellular and IP. A trained operator verifies it according to the procedures set up for your account, dispatches police, fire, or EMS as appropriate, and notifies your contact list in order.

Is there a contract, and how long?

Ask us and we will tell you plainly before you sign anything. We are not a national dealer recovering equipment subsidies through a long agreement, and we would rather quote you a term that fits the situation than lock you into one that does not.

What happens if the internet goes down?

Signals continue over the cellular path. Dual-path communication exists precisely so that a single failure — an outage, a cut line, an unplugged router — does not silence the system.

The panel also reports the loss of a path as a trouble condition, so nobody has to notice it manually.

How do you handle false alarms?

Verification procedures at the central station catch a large share before dispatch. Beyond that, sensor selection and placement do most of the work, along with entry delays set to how people actually move through the building.

Municipal false alarm fines are avoidable, and we treat a recurring false alarm as a problem on our side to solve rather than a fee for you to absorb.

Can I monitor a system another company installed?

In most cases, yes. Takeover generally requires a communicator change and a full walk test to verify every device reports correctly.

We will not take over monitoring on a system we have not tested — monitoring a system with dead devices is worse than no monitoring, because you believe you are covered.
