A family business protecting Capital Region buildings.

We started as a small shop doing what we knew well, and grew by taking on the systems our customers were tired of managing separately. Today we are one contractor for every life safety and security system in a building.

The story

A family business built on service and safety.

First Advantage Security is a proud family-run business rooted in service, integrity, and a deep commitment to protecting our community.

Established in 2015, the company began as a vision shared between Walter — preparing to retire after a long career as a professional firefighter — and his youngest son, Josh. Together, they set out to combine real-world life-safety experience with a dedication to providing reliable, customer-focused protection for homes and businesses.

What began with home alarm installations and security camera systems soon grew into a trusted local safety partner across the Capital Region. In 2021, the family expanded once more when Walter’s older son, Brandon, joined the business after graduating from college. With Brandon’s leadership and technical expertise, First Advantage Security expanded into fire alarm installation, inspection, testing, and code-compliant life-safety services.

We work from Central Avenue in Albany and serve customers throughout the Capital Region — providing dependable solutions backed by genuine care.

Mission

Protecting what matters most.

Our mission is to deliver reliable, high-quality life-safety and security solutions with honesty, professionalism, and a customer-first mindset.

As a family business, we are committed to treating every client with the same trust and respect we value within our own family — ensuring safety, peace of mind, and exceptional service on every job.

Core values

Three things we hold to.

Passion

We are passionate about life safety and dedicated to protecting the people and properties in our community.

Integrity

We do the right thing — every time. Honesty and transparency guide all our decisions.

Operational excellence

We strive to provide the best value, dependable workmanship, and reliable service for every customer, on every project.

Credentials

What we hold, stated plainly.

Name only what can be evidenced. A vague claim is worth less than no claim, because careful buyers check.

How we work

The same five steps for every customer.

A single door and a 400-unit building follow the same sequence. Only the timeline changes.

01

Site survey

We walk the building and document what exists — including the systems someone else installed.

02

Design & proposal

One written plan, one price, phased across budget years if that is what the building needs.

03

Installation

Our own technicians, coordinated around your operations rather than the other way round.

04

Commissioning & training

Tested, documented, and your staff shown how to actually use it.

05

Inspection & service

We take over the compliance calendar and we keep it.

Service area

Where we work.

Our shop is on Central Avenue in Albany, which puts most of the Capital Region inside a 45-minute drive. For emergency service, that number is the one that matters.

We walk your building, document what you have, identify what is missing or coming due, and give you one written plan for the whole property. It takes about 45 minutes and costs nothing.

  • We call within one business day

To find a time that works around your operations, not ours.

  • A technician walks the property with you

Bring whatever documentation you have, or none at all. We document what is installed, what is missing, and what is coming due.

  • You receive a written plan and price

One plan for the whole property, phased across budget years if that is what the building needs.

  • Nothing else happens unless you say so

We do not chase. If the timing is wrong, tell us when to check back.
