Controlled entry

Entry systems that route to a phone, not a handset nobody answers.

Video intercom and controlled entry for apartment buildings, offices, and gated properties — integrated with your access control so entry events are logged, not just buzzed through.

What an entry system project includes

  • Entry station selection surface or flush, with directory sizing that matches your unit count.
  • Video at the door so whoever answers can see who is asking before they release the door.
  • Routing to phones calls reach residents and staff wherever they are, not a handset in an empty office.
  • Directory management tenant turnover handled without a service call.
  • Access control integration entries logged against credentials and events rather than anonymous buzz-ins.
  • Gate and vehicle entry for properties with controlled vehicle access.
  • Delivery and contractor access one-time codes or scheduled windows instead of a permanently shared code.
What actually matters

Three things we do differently.

We assume the office will be empty.

Entry systems that depend on someone sitting at a desk fail the moment that desk is unstaffed — which in most buildings is most of the time. Routing to mobile devices is what makes an entry system work at 7pm on a Saturday.

We log entries instead of just opening doors.

A buzz-in with no record is a security gap that looks like a security system. Tying the intercom to access control means every release is attributable, which matters enormously when something goes missing from a common area.

We design for turnover.

In an apartment building the directory changes constantly. If updating it requires a technician visit, it stops getting updated and residents start propping doors. Property staff should be able to manage the directory themselves, and we set it up that way.

Equipment

Equipment we install

Entry hardware built for the traffic and the weather it will actually see.

Aiphone Video entry stations and directories for apartment buildings, offices, and gated properties. Primary line
App-based entry Calls routed to resident and staff phones with video, so entries are answered anywhere. Optional
Gate control Vehicle entry hardware, loop detection, and controlled gate operation. As required
Access control tie-in Entry events logged against the same platform that manages your doors. See access control
Egress · Fire alarm interlock

Controlled entry still has to release on alarm.

Entry doors held by electric hardware sit on an egress path, which means they must release on fire alarm activation and loss of power. We coordinate that interlock with the fire alarm system directly, because we install and inspect that too.

Common questions

Questions we get asked about this.

Can residents answer the door from their phones?

Yes. App-based entry routes the call to a resident's phone with video, wherever they are. They can see who is at the door and release it remotely.

For buildings that prefer them, in-unit stations are still available and the two can coexist.

Can we reuse the wiring already in the building?

Often, yes — existing risers in older apartment buildings can frequently carry a new system, which is the difference between a retrofit and a rewire. The survey establishes what is usable before anything is quoted.

How do we handle deliveries and contractors?

One-time codes or scheduled access windows, rather than a shared code that spreads across every delivery driver in the region. Each entry is logged against the credential or code used.

Who updates the directory when a tenant moves?

Your staff, from a browser, in a couple of minutes. We set it up that way deliberately — directories that require a service call to change stop being accurate, and inaccurate directories are why doors get propped.

Does it work with our access control system?

Yes, and that integration is the point. Entry events appear in the same log as credential events, so a common-area incident can be traced to a specific release rather than to an anonymous buzz-in.

We walk your building, document what you have, identify what is missing or coming due, and give you one written plan for the whole property. It takes about 45 minutes and costs nothing.

  • We call within one business day

To find a time that works around your operations, not ours.

  • A technician walks the property with you

Bring whatever documentation you have, or none at all. We document what is installed, what is missing, and what is coming due.

  • You receive a written plan and price

One plan for the whole property, phased across budget years if that is what the building needs.

  • Nothing else happens unless you say so

We do not chase. If the timing is wrong, tell us when to check back.
